“Our daughters will be a dangerous duo if they become frenemies. Damon and Miranda Salvatore, taking over the world one comment at a time.” The brunette nodded as she ran her fingers through Mona’s soft blonde hair. It was nice to see her mother’s face in her daughter. Ramona was her little angel, she was one of the best things that happened to her. “She is my daughter and Kol’s her father so it makes sense she looks like both of us, just saying.” The woman stuck out her tongue at him, the little hand of Miranda grabbing it. “Hey that’s my tongue!” she tried to say as the blue-eyed toddler laughed, J.J jokingly glared at her as she let go. “I’m sure you do. It’s like you both have a connection.” She looked at Damon and then at Miranda, her boggly blue eyes staring at his own. It was nice to finally see Damon happy. It would have sucked to deal with a depressed brother for the rest of her existence. “Or you can make cookies?” She said as she gave him a small pout. “Fine. We’ll order pizza. Or chinese food, actually. Or you can cook chinese food. Whatever works for you.”

“Lethal,” he nodded knowingly, grinning at the very thought. “As long as Henry doesn’t join their duo…I’m good. I’m a bit way of a Mikaelson-Pierce combo in a kid. “Hey now,” he rolled his eyes, “I know that. I’m just saying, certain kids look either exactly like one parent or the other but she seems to be a good mix. Damon laughed as Miranda grabbed J.J’s tongue, amused by the sight before him. “Ha, yup, that is most certainly a kid of mine. Aren’t you adorable,” he smiled broadly, picking Miranda up and kissing her on the cheek. The minute he saw Miranda for the first time, he had fallen immediately and irreversibly in love with his daughter. And he’d stay that way for the rest of forever. He knew he’d do anything for her, for Jenna. He was finally happy. “Pizza, Chinese food, cookies. Whatever, I’m good with cooking anything. Baking’s more Jenna’s forte than anything else, though, but she’ll be headed here soon.” He ran his fingers lightly through Miranda’s auburn hair, smiling before setting her down again.

“This room used to be clean.” The brunette sighed as she rested her arms on the crib. Life had changed so much ever since she had Mona and though she was happy she had her, she just wished she was a little bit older. More mature and wise, so to speak. “The girl version of Damon Salvatore. Ha. The world might just go into chaos with your sarcastic comments.” She shook her head at the thought of the future. It seemed like yesterday that she had Ramona, the little tiny girl that was wrapped around a pink blanket all snuggled up in her arms. It felt like she was growing up a bit too fast. “I cannot wait for the day she says her first sarcastic comment. The whole world awaits it. Sounds good. We can order pizza or you can make cookies or something.” J.J smiled as she saw Mona smile back at Damon, the little hands holding her fingers as she handed the stuffed toy to her. “She probably will be.. she does enjoy seeing her reflection a lot. We already have a papa mirror and a baby mirror in the house so…” J.J shrugged as she shook the stuff toy around, making the little girl giggle even louder. “She’s daddy’s little girl.”

“It’s cool, these things happen,” he shrugged, smiling as he crossed his arms. “Ooh, wait til Miranda’s older. We’re going to run this town with our excessive personalities. He couldn’t wait to get to know his daughter as she grew older. To know of her thoughts, her dreams. He wanted to know everything already and it seemed like she had been born yesterday. It was completely uncanny. “Aw, she’s cute,” Damon grinned, reaching over to brush a hand along Mona’s cheek. “She looks a bit like you already, but I can see Kol in her as well.” He turned to look at J.J, laughing, “I feel as though most girls seem to be daddy’s little girl at the beginning. Well, it depends, but…I like it a lot. It’s like everytime I around, she just knows I’m there. And she needs me, which is…so strange, but I love it.” It was one of the best feelings in the world, Damon thought. “Pizza sounds great,” he nodded, shrugging off his jacket and placing his keys on a table. “I could make it, or we could order it before Jenna gets here. Whatever you decide.”

“When the hell was the last time I saw you anyway?” The girl smiled as she hugged him back, the babies’ noises flooding the room. “Sorry for the mess.. Uhm.. Yeah.” J.J scratched the back of her head as she put the toys away to one side, smiling at the babies that were at Mona’s crib. “No blaming on my wedding! I’m doing great. Mona won’t say mama yet and Kol’s out eating somewhere.” She shrugged as she glanced at Mona, tugging the giraffe stuff toy away from Miranda’s grip and letting out a shriek of anger. J.J laughed softly as she grabbed one of the dozens of stuff toys and handed it to Miranda, the blue-eyed toddler grabbing it and letting go of Mona’s favorite stuffed toy. “Well they sure get along just fine.” J.J glanced at Damon, laughing even more as she gave her daughter a light kiss on her head. “She looks like you and probably acts like you too, right?”

“The wedding was the last time I saw you,” Damon replied, grinning slightly. He shook his head, “It’s fine. Our house looks pretty much the same.” He turned to look at Mona and Miranda, laughing as he watched them fight before J.J. handed Miranda another toy. “Oh, they’re clearly going to be amazing friends.” For the last few weeks, Damon was coming to realize Miranda was more and more like him in her small quirks and behaviours. Only time and growth would tell just how similar they were and which characters she had taken from Jenna. “She has Jenna’s hair, though, but my looks. It’s so bizarre, but looking at her…it’s the greatest feeling. Jenna says she’s a lot like me already but I’m waiting for the day she says her first sarcastic comment,” Damon grinned proudly, reaching over to brush his daughter’s short auburn strands. “Jenna’s out doing some grocery shopping put I texted her to come over here to see you guys afterwards.” He looked at Mona, smiling at the little girl. “I’m guessing she’s going to be a mini Kol?”

“Mama. Ma-Ma. Can you say mama?” The little toddler sat on her mother’s crossed legs as she held on to the stuffed toy and giggled, her big brown eyes staring at her own. A huge smile flashed on JJ’s face as she adored her little daughter, the constant mumbles coming out of her mouth made her feel like the happiest woman in the world. She wondered if everything that happened to her was out of luck. Meeting an amazing guy, being married and a mother. She never imagined any of these happening to her, and now that it has happened she didn’t want it to end. Everything was right in the world and though it was sometimes boring, she wouldn’t have it any other way.

J.J continued to play with Mona, trying to get her to talk as she began to crawl away from her, reaching for the giraffe stuff animal that was nearby. The mumbles and shrieks of joy came out of her as she bounced the stuff toy up and down. The knock startled J.J as she carried the little girl to her crib, the stuff toy still in her hands as she walked out of the nursery and to the front door. “Hey Damon! Hey Miranda!”

Damon couldn’t comprehend how life had gotten so much easier in the span of a few months. After many wrongs, many tragedies…he finally found a happy medium for himself. It was as if everything that had gone to shit with their lives was finally turning around, even for Katherine of all people. Every day was brighter than the last and even though the act of raising a child was difficult, naturally, Damon was happier than he had ever been in his life. He lifted Miranda out of her crib, grinning as he nuzzled his nose with hers. “Alright, baby, we’re gonna go see Aunt J, yeah? How does that sound, sweetheart?” The blue-eyed little girl made gurgling noises and Damon laughed, gathering her things and heading out the door. Jenna had gone shopping, and he texted her to meet them at J.J’s house when she was coming home again.

Once he reached his sister’s home, he smiled broadly as his eyes landed on J.J. He settled Miranda down across from Ramona, turning to envelop J.J. into a hug. “I haven’t seen you in forever,” he said, pulling away. “It’s as if we’ve both disappeared into our own lives after the wedding.” He glanced around the room, his eyes running over all the toys scattered across the floors. “How are you? How’s everyone doing?”
